Unite is Britain's biggest union with two million members in every type of workplace.

Unite is the union for the 21st century. Unite was formed by a merger between two of Britain's leading unions, the T&G (Transport & General Workers Union) and Amicus. It was created to meet the great challenges facing working people in the 21st century and is a democratic and campaigning union which fights back for employees in the workplace.

As a trade union, Unite protects your rights, health, safety and wellbeing at work. Unite negotiates on your behalf with employers and the UK and European governments to get a fair deal for you at work.

Unite offers you personal representation and advice at work. Members may face work problems that need to be resolved, or have grievance to bring against employers. Unite staff, Unite full time officers and the legal team are at members' disposal to give the support and advice needed.

There have been Unite (TGWU) members at Derbyshire Police for many years but it is only in the past few years that we have begun to recruit new members as our presence becomes known. Would you believe that this website is now approaching it's third anniversary? We don't shout about our presence - we are here, Management know we are here as do other unions. We go about our business and protect and represent our members which is what they pay for. 

We don't get involved in issues that other unions becomed bogged down with - we simply give our members the best personal representation and unrivalled support. That's what we're here for. Thats what members pay for and have a right to expect.

Unite is represented on the Police Staff Council and is already working on behalf of UK Police Staff, including all Derbyshire Police Staff.
